The Alliance for the World Universal Accessibility Day has been created
The FC Barcelona, FCB Foundation, La Caixa” Social Welfare Projects, Mapp4all Universal Accessibility and the city council of Barcelona came together to make a request to the United Nations on the establishment of a global sensitizing day about the universal accessibility.
This coalition, whose object is to promote universal accessibility, presented last week the agreement on setting up an alliance at the Auditorium 1899 in The Camp Nou. Different renowned and experienced people attended the celebration during the signing ceremony.
The associations and companies above-mentioned wish the United Nations to declare a World Universal Accessibility Day, which means to set up a specific day to promote different activities around the world to raise awareness on this subject. The first World Universal Accessibility Day would be on 30th September 2018.
The signatures collection period, which seeks the support of the cities, companies, institutions and people who want to join the Project, has begun after the creation of the alliance and the signing of the agreement.
The United Nations Convention on the People’s Rights with Disabilities considers accessibility as one of its general principles. Accordingly, it highlights the importance of accessibility in physical, social, economic and cultural environment, in health, education, in information and communications, so that people with disabilities can fully enjoy all human rights and fundamental freedoms.
