The last 24 and 25 of October there was the Regional Competition for an Accessible Europe on the ITU building in Geneva with the collaboration of Agenzija Sapport and Zero Project. A group of IT and sensory loss experts got together in the meeting as the Evaluation Committee of said competition that was supported by a valued and high-level ITU staff. In fact, I wanted to congratulate the meeting organizers for having the idea of uniting IT experts, technology designers, manufacturers and NGO experts on accessibility.
Before the meeting, ITU gave me as one of the experts an explanatory dossier for every innovative digital solution submitted on how to make Europe more accessible through technology. All the experts evaluated the solutions submitted to the competition related to their area of expertise.
On the Geneva meeting, we did a presentation of submissions per category: Persons who are deaf or hard of hearing, persons with visual impairments, persons with speech impairments, persons with cognitive and intellectual disabilities and persons with physical disabilities.
Finally, the group of experts decided the results through two voting levels. Those submissions would be on the Accessible Europe: ICT 4 All that will take place the 4-6 of December in Malta. I am looking forward to see all of you there!
