The FC Barcelona, FCB Foundation, La Caixa” Social Welfare Projects, Mapp4all Universal Accessibility and the city council of Barcelona came together to make a request to the United Nations on the establishment of a global sensitizing day about the universal accessibility. This coalition presented last week the agreement on setting up an alliance at the Auditorium 1899 in The Camp Nou.
The objective of this workshop was to present the concrete aspects of accessibility and the business case for providing accessible products and services.
The workshop reflected the state of the art of accessibility legislation, policies and products and services in the areas covered by the current proposal for a European Accessibility Act.
Representatives of Finnish disability agencies visited Catalonia with the objective of getting to know the work method of different centres known for their high quality and excellence. The visitors represented the Municipal Federation of Vaalijala and the Foundation for Intellectually Disabled People in the region of Savo (SAVAS).
As a member of the EDF Board, the EDbN representative, Ricard López, actively attended the meeting representing almost 3 million persons with Deafblindness.
The European Deafblind Network (EDbN) has recently received the confirmation of the access rights to the European Parliament premises. This condition will provide the necessary steps to explain the requirements and needs of Deafblindness to all the members of the European institutions.

The general yearly Meeting of the European Disability Forum (EDF) took place on the 25th and 26th May in Athens, with the participation of the member organizations representatives from whole Europe. EDbN was present there as member of EDF.
Ethical and care reflections concerning a recent case of euthanasia
The international press has been shaken by the recent news regarding a case of euthanasia applied to two brothers in Belgium. Since this is our area of expertise, EDbN cannot abstain itself from making a pertinent reflection that under no circumstances questions the decision of two adults of sound mind whose end fits into the terms established by the legislation of their country.
One of the objectives of the conference is to highlight the lack of accessible and reliable data to key stakeholders who are in a position to change this situation.
